Top 10 FAQs — Guided Kitchen Cabinet Makeover
1. Is this a full cabinet painting service?
No. This is a guided DIY service. I teach you the process on one door in your home, and you complete the remaining work yourself.
2. Will my cabinets look professional when we’re done?
You’ll learn professional techniques, but final results depend on prep, application, and care done by you. Brushed and rolled on paint will not be like a factory sprayed finish however using the proper tools and technique will give you a very similar look.
3. How long does the whole process take?
Most homeowners take 1–3 weeks, depending on prep time, drying, and cure time.
4. What’s included in the package price?
Three in-home visits, paint and finishing products, brush and roller. Loan of palm sander when available, sand paper and anything else needed to do your project from start to finish.
5. How many cabinet doors are included?
The base package includes enough paint to do small to average kitchens which normally take about 2 Litres of Chalk Paint or 1 Litre of Chalk Paint and 1 tin of Satin Paint (750ml). You may need to purchase additional paint for larger areas or when going from dark to light.
6. Do I need to buy anything else?
No, all supplies are included unless more paint is needed (see question 5)
7. What if my cabinets chip or don’t hold up?
When cabinets are properly prepped, painted, and finished using the methods taught during your guided makeover, they typically hold up very well and require only minimal touch-ups over time. Most homeowners are pleasantly surprised by how durable the finish is.
As with any painted surface — including factory-finished cabinets — durability is influenced by daily use and care. While no painted finish can be guaranteed against damage from heavy wear or impact, this process is designed to produce a strong, long-lasting result under normal household use.
8. Is this suitable for all cabinet types?
Most wood and painted cabinets are suitable. Some may need an extra step but this is included in the package.
9. What if I get stuck after you leave?
Clear instructions are provided, but ongoing touch-ups or repairs are not included. You can ask questions anytime after should you have a concern - we are here to help.
10. Do I keep the supplies once the job is complete?
You may keep any opened paint, as well as the brush, roller, and tray used during your guided makeover. If shellac is required, it is used only for the initial coat and is included in the package price; however, any remaining shellac is not left on site
